My bête noire is rudeness.
Generally, I find English people – especially around here, where Audrey and I live – to be ill-mannered, ignorant and impolite. It does not take an enormous effort to be courteous and respectful to one’s fellow humans but unfortunately it is an increasingly rare occurrence.
This morning, Audrey was attacked by two belligerent jack russells. Instead of apologising, their retarded owner told us to f- off when I challenged him about keeping his dogs under control.
Later, in the newsagent’s, I was further disappointed when the proprietor, utterly predictably, did not thank me for the £2.50 I handed to him in exchange for a colourful magazine – a common deficiency amongst shopkeepers and bar-persons that I find particularly piquant.

I had the unfortunate experience of watching the enormous frame of dimwit Jade Goody prance around the house in the Channel 4 reality TV programme Big Brother last night.
I only allowed myself 10 minutes or so, but in the end that was all I needed – all I needed for her to be raised slightly in my expectations.
Indeed, I used to think that you were nothing but a boorish moron, Jade.
Well, now, congratulations are in order.
Jade Goody, you have been promoted! You are now officially an idiot.
Well done and God bless your pointed little head.
